Role Models
I was watching MTV the other day when a message from the singer Pink came on. She was discussing our role models these days. She pointed out that in our society the dumb blonde with the sex tape out and who never works is the one who is being envied and publicized. These women have DUI's, drug problems, are always photographed out partying and yet these are the people we idolize? She continued on to say that she wonders why in our society do we not idolize the intelligent college graduate? Why is the single mother of 3 not idolized? These are the real heroes in our society. I was wondering what your take on this is. Why does our society love to follow these irresponsible women?

Life is hard. We have to work so hard to get by, especially with todays economy. It is human nature to want money, attention, good-looks, a relaxed, and above all an easy life. These celebrities have just that. They get paid to have a beautiful face. They make money fairly easily without much thought or investment. They seem to not have commitment to anything or anyone. They get to do what they want, when they want, and how they want. They buy the nicest cars, million-dollar homes, name-brand clothes, well basically anything they could ever dream of. These are all characteristics of a "good-life." As middle class citizens, that is exactly what we envy. Because these celebrities are plastered everywhere for us to see it is only natural to want what they have. This is why I think our society is so "SUE-HAPPY." We see all these celebrities making all this money just because they are pretty. We want that life, so how do we get it? We need money to get it. So how do we go about getting a lot of money extremely fast? We sue. But the irony of all this is that their lives really suck. Once they (celebrities and people who get a dose of that lifestyle) get all this money, they realize it cannot fill voids that people, relationships, work, and investment in all these things can.
I saw that too!! I think that is so true, today we need to start looking up to better roll models and what success that they have accomplished, and we shouldn't be looking up to people, with serious drugs or sexual addictions.
